Area 09 Pre-Conference Mock Conference

April 13, 2025 by District 04 MSCA 09

Area 09 Pre-Conference Mock Conference

Sunday, April 13 Area 09 Pre-Conference Mock Conference 9:00am – 3:00pm PST (hybrid)

Sunday – April 13 – 8 am to 3 pm â€“ Day 2 is the Pre-Conference Mock Conference Assembly

The Pre-Mock Conference Workshop is a day where everyone involved has the fun opportunity to act like a delegate for the day and deliberate on agenda items “in committee” – just like our delegate will do at the General Service Conference from April 27 to May 3!

GSRs and AA individuals are randomly assigned 1 of 6 committees on the day of the event, and DCMCs and Area Chairs are pre-assigned to 1 of the 6 committees that was discussed at the March Area Service Committee. (Reminder: GSRs who attended the March ASC and were assigned a committee breakout will join the same committee on April 13). (Please see the alternate delegate’s page for access to the workgroup assignments. Password protected: Panel74).

The outcome of this assembly will allow the delegate to know â€śArea 9’s group conscience” as discussed through the work group committees. Scribes of the Workgroup assignments will provide the committee’s recommendation via the Survey Monkey/Workgroup packet and share this information at the microphone. Workgroups will also have the opportunity to discuss three pre-assigned General Service Conference inventory questions (English – HERE Spanish – HERE) and discuss the motion to approve the Spanish Translation of The Plain Language Big Book.

The Responsibility Statement of Alcoholics Anonymous

I am responsible. When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there. And for that: I am responsible.

Copyright © by AA Grapevine, Inc.

    • Written in 1965: It was authored by former AA trustee Al S. specifically for the 1965 International Convention in Toronto. • Conference Approved: The General Service Conference affirmed its exact spirit and wording in 1971 and again in 1977, noting that the declaration should never be changed. • Bill W.'s Endorsement: It was famously recited by AA co-founder Bill W. alongside 100 other members at the Toronto convention to emphasize the fellowship’s global duty to suffering alcoholics.

    Core Meaning

    • Global Outreach: The phrase "anyone, anywhere" expands the member's sense of duty beyond their local group, extending it to the global fellowship. • Action-Oriented: It takes the principles of AA's Twelfth Step—which calls members to carry the message—and turns them into a personal pledge of availability. • Personal Ownership: The opening and closing lines emphasize that the success and continuity of AA ultimately rely on the individual commitment of each member.
