Event Overview & Purpose

The Mid Southern California Area 09 Panel 76 is proud to host a specialized Grapevine and La Viña Workshop, dedicated to exploring, celebrating, and expanding the reach of Alcoholics Anonymous’ official periodicals: AA Grapevine (the international journal of Alcoholics Anonymous) and La Viña (its bi-monthly Spanish-language counterpart). These publications have served as vital “meetings in print” for decades, offering strength, hope, and shared experience to members worldwide. This workshop provides a unique collaborative space for General Service Representatives (GSRs), district committee members, intergroups, and individual members to deepen their understanding of how these powerful recovery tools support personal sobriety and strengthen group unity.

Key Highlights & Program Agenda

The afternoon is structured to engage attendees through a diverse lineup of interactive sessions, speaker presentations, and informational displays:
  • Engaging Speakers & Roundtables: Hear seasoned members share personal testimonies on how reading and writing for Grapevine and La Viña transformed their recovery journeys. Small-group roundtables will encourage open discussion, allowing participants to exchange practical ideas on how home groups can better integrate magazine literature into regular meeting formats.
  • Literature & Display Exhibits: A comprehensive display of Grapevine and La Viña books, special editions, and anthologies will be showcased. Attendees can browse classic collections such as The Language of the Heart and explore specialized recovery topics ranging from emotional sobriety to navigating life’s challenges in early recovery.
  • Digital Integration & Modern Accessibility: A major focus of the workshop will be dedicated to demonstrating the modern digital footprint of AA’s literature. Presenters will guide attendees through the features and benefits of the official Grapevine and La Viña apps, navigating the official websites, and managing digital subscriptions. These tools ensure that members have 24/7 access to recovery resources right from their smartphones, tablets, or computers.
  • Subscription Drives & Service Opportunities: Learn how easy it is to set up group and individual subscriptions, purchase gift subscriptions for newcomers, and step into Grapevine/La Viña representative service positions at the group, district, or area levels.
