Conference Theme & Overview:
Guided by “Humility in Action,” 136 Conference members gathered to address 70 agenda items critical to the future of A.A. across the United States and Canada.
Publication of the Big Book (Fifth Edition):
The Conference approved the publication of the fifth edition of Alcoholics Anonymous (the Big Book), marking the first new edition since 2001. This updated edition follows five years of development, incorporating 26 new stories, a new preface, a new foreword, and updated appendices. Additionally, members voted to remove an offensive term from the first 164 pages.
Keynote & Opening Remarks:
Scott H. (General Service Board Chair) opened and closed the week emphasizing unity, detaching from personal differences, and prioritizing how members treat one another.
Jay T. (Area 27 Delegate Chairperson) welcomed members and emphasized approaching service with open minds, willingness, and patient hearts.
Joyce S. (Eastern Canada Regional Trustee) delivered the keynote address, reflecting on leadership, true humility versus humiliation, and remaining resilient through service challenges.
Presentations & Workshops:
Included presentations on “Restoration and Discovering Grace, Unity and Fellowship”, “Gossip vs. Facts: Examining the Health of Our Own Communication”, and “Finding Common Ground”, along with a workshop on Step Ten titled “Keeping Our Own House in Order”.
Theme for the 77th Conference:
The upcoming theme for the next General Service Conference was announced as “Honoring Our Past, Embracing Our Future”.
